Mike attended Scarborough School of Art and then gained the Art Teacher’s Certificate at Leeds College of Art. He taught in secondary education, completed an MA in Art at London University of Education and was appointed Advisory Teacher for Art, North Yorkshire 1990-1991. Returning to Head of Art at Stokesley Secondary School. Mike, now retired, works on site in sketchbooks or directly onto canvas, enabling him to make an immediate response to the environment in the moment.
