Sunday 21 July - Society visit to Saltburn Art Studios

The group visit to Saltburn Art Studios, which had to be postponed, is now planned for Saturday 21 July. The address is Saltburn Gallery, 30-32 Marske Road, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, TS12 1QG.

The Art Studios are celebrating 20 years since they began and are hoping to have 17 artists in residence and studios open on Saturday 21st July. They are also having an exhibition in their gallery. Our visit, for up to 20 Leven Art members, has been arranged from 1:00 pm, for perhaps a couple of hours. Members should book their place with Viv.

Please note – unless stated otherwise, no charge is made to attend the sessions, they are open to members only and are held from 1.30pm to 4.15pm, usually in the upstairs room at Stokesley Town Hall, or as stated.

Most visiting artists have examples of their work on their websites.

*Remember to bring your own painting equipment to any workshop*.

We need to limit numbers for the paid workshops so it is advisable to book well in advance to make sure you get a place.

Members of the public are most welcome to come to any of the events highlighted below in blue.


Saturday 29th September – AGM at Stokesley Town Hall - 1.30pm

All members welcome.



Saturday October 13th - 1.30pm to 4.30pm - Hilary Thorpe – Demo and Workshop

Hilary will do a seascape demo, and afterwards run a workshop, using a palette knife and acrylics.

Please bring your paints, paper or canvas, brushes and especially a palette knife.

Members only.



Saturday October 27th – 1.30pm to 4.30pm- Phillip Boville - Demonstration

Philip says his session will be a seascape demonstration beginning with a presentation on the elements surrounding the production of his painting.  He will bring his painting “The Plight of the Scarborough Lifeboat” to give us some idea but will demonstrate painting a lifeboat in rough seas.

Free to members. Also open to members of the public at a charge of £3 per person.



Saturday November 10th – at  Kirkby Church Hall – Demonstration from 10:00am until noon and workshop from 12:30pm till 4.00pm – Phil Reynolds

Phil will do a demo, using collage and acrylics, in the morning from 10.00am – noon which will be free to all members.  The demo is also open to members of the public at a charge of £3 per person.

However, for the members’ workshop in the afternoon from 12.30 till 4.00pm, members must book, using the attached form, to secure a place.  There will be a charge of £10.

Please bring acrylics, paper or canvas or board and your other painting equipment.



Saturday November 24th – at Kirkby Church Hall – Demonstration from 10:00am until noon and workshop from 12:30pm till 4.00pm – Robert Dutton

Robert will do a demo using watercolour/gouache and pastel in the morning from 10.00am till noon, which will be free to all members and also open to members of the public at a charge of £3 per person.

However, for the members’ workshop in the afternoon from 12.30 till 4.00pm, members must book, using the attached form, to secure a place.  There will be a charge of £10.

Please bring watercolour/gouache, pastels and your paper and brushes etc.



Saturday December 8th – at Kirkby Church Hall – 1.30pm  till 4.30pm – Robert Brindley

Robert will be doing a demonstration, using watercolours, of a Winter’s Day. 

Free to members. Also open to members of the public, at a charge of £3 per person.


After the session, there will be tea and cake to celebrate Christmas, during which we will have an auction of art materials.
